McClellan AFB, California

The claim: facility capable for 30,000 - 35,000

What it really is: The base was closed in 2001. The surrounding area was converted into a business park, and the only military presence left there is the Coast Guard. The airfield is also used by civilians as well.

Some of the base in still off limits due to ground pollution contamination that is still being cleaned up.

  1. If you live in or around where McClellan Park is drive to the SW corner of the base next to Bell Ave there is a FEMA
    building present that occupies what was an Electronics building when McClellan was active also there is a new 2 story FEMA building just constructed with high fences & signs stating area under 24 HR Surveilence also There is still Government Operations going on you are just not aware of there presence
